Thursday 16th August

Sadly we have to report the passing of Dorothy Thorpe, one of our more elderly and long serving members. She has suffered ill health over the past few years and died peacefully in Pembury Hospital last week.  She was a frequent user of our excellent ReadyCall service in the village and it says all for her that the volunteers were always so happy to take her wherever because she was always cheery and good company in spite of her frailty.

World Cup Football.  The England performancehas been good for the whole country and also for your Club.  Our screening of the England games has brought a lot of pleasure to many people and certainly kept our bar sales roaring.  Thanks, in particular, to the few members of our bar volunteer team who worked their socks off.  Even more thanks to your Chairperson, Lindsey, who worked her shoes and socks off! Leading by an example that we welcome more to follow!

So quieter this week as we build up for our massive Beer Festival and Family BBQ a week tomorrow (Saturday 21st)

Pleased to tell all that we will be showing the CROATIA v ENGLAND match on our BIG SCREEN on Wednesday evening.!!!!

We are able to do this because our village tWIlite Club have graciously moved the date of their arranged meeting on Wednesday to the 8thof August. Our huge thanks to their Committee and for the understanding of their members who have allowed this to happen.

So- here we go!! Make sure you are there in good time to get a pre match drink and a good seat!  Bar open early.

Friday 6 July

We are delighted that the support of our 'Clubfull' of people spurred on our National team on Tuesday!  That great result means that we will be screening the Semi final (between England and Sweden) on Saturday afternoon (3 pm ko).  We again expect a big crowd, so arrive early to get a good seat.  Bar opens from around 2 pmfor World Cup Football.
“Two to go !  Come on England!!”)

First some sad news. That our dear Club member and friend of many, Janet Valentine, passed away during last week after a long illness.  Janet lived in Tunbridge Wells but retained a close interest in our Club and all that happens in Horsmonden.  She was a much valued leading member of our Village Choir.  A lovely lady who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and meeting her.  No funeral arrangements at present but those wishing to know them should call Kell 01892722162
