A couple of URGENT pleas from HoVEC – who organise our Village Summer Festival which is THIS weekend.

CAKES and CARS! Strange mixture! - but first let's set the scene. On Sunday afternoon there will be a huge VILLAGE TEA PARTY for all! IT IS FREE!!!! and dedicated to the memory of Jo Cox and the Democracy in which we live. Tables will be set out on the Green (in the marquee if wet), there will be entertainment for children and adults, a band, Classic cars and simply a big gathering of the families and friends of our Village.

Calm before the Storm? Not quite, but this weekend will certainly be a little quieter in our village than the next one! Still, quite a bit for you to take advantage of though.

Have to say first, how sad and concerned we all are for Pete Botten who has been diagnosed with a 'ticker' problem. He is OK, is at home and taking things easy as instructed. (the latter is difficult for Pete). He does such a lot of unseen work for our Club and when thanked just looks at you as if to say ' why wouldn't I do it- it's what you do'? Best wishes Pete – get someone to lift that pint of DoomBar to your lips for you! Great bloke!

Good news - we hear Kell is home and on the road to recovery. Best wishes to him and lets hope we see him soon.

Tomorrow we will be off to the Dogs in Brighton! 4pm the coach leaves the Green. There may be a couple of tickets left, so ask at the bar tonight if you would like to join us.

A great weekend this weekend, FHOPS Karaoke on Saturday, theWell@5 on Sunday as well as our usual opening on Friday night and Sunday lunchtime.
