Great party at the Club last Saturday!  Celebrating Jackie's  big birthday.  May we add our congratulations and best wishes for many more.  Good atmosphere and a lot of happy people.

Please to say that the help in financing a new playing mat for our village Short Mat Bowls Club has given them a real boost.  They have not had the new mat delivered yet but they trounced a couple of good local sides and are on a 'high'!

Nostalgia Day- the next one is on Friday 18th May.  Those who went to the last one will know how interesting and enjoyable it was.  With word getting around this one should be even better!  Bring all your old photos, programmes, documents etc.  You stick your name on your shirt and suddenly you will find complete strangers who remember you!  More next week but make a note.

On Saturday we are off to The Dogs. A full coach (maybe some late drop outs- so speak to Bill, Nick or Lindsey if you can go).  Great evening in prospect.  All expecting a good time and perhaps winning some beer money.

The postponed Harry's Quiz Night will take place on Saturday 12th May. 7.30 pmstart in our Club of course.  It is to fund his charity trip to Cambodia.  Tickets are £10 but you will be fed with an amazing Cambodian Fish Stew (alternatives available if you don't like fish or anything Cambodian).  Let us do all we can to help this young man in his venture and work (he blows the bugle at our Remembrance Service)

Teams of 6-8.  make up a team or just get single tickets and be seated with nice (and maybe brainy people).  Tickets from Heath Stores.

All set for those going on our Battlefields Tour on Wednesday (return Friday).  34 people in all on an 'educational pilgrimage' and  some relaxed
enjoyment as well.  Hope the weather is fine for them and they get back on the Friday night in time to partake in the Treasure Chest.

The meeting of our village Historical Society at our Club went very well last week (always last Thursday in the month).  Never thought a talk on Medieval Housewives could be so amusing!  Great speaker with a unique way of putting her subject over.  Well done to Brian and his committee.

The Men's Breakfast last Saturday  was as good as ever.  Very full 'English' from Anthony and nearly 50 attending.  They really responded to the plea to bring items for our Food Store Box.  So much stuff- so much generosity.  Adding to that we were able to make a donation of £174 to the Food Store Funds.  Alan and Carlton told us of the work their team do.  Wonderful, and an example to us all.

After many years of volunteering his services behind our bar Charlie May has decided to step down.  He will be greatly missed but our sincere thanks to him for his loyal service to our Club.  Well done Charlie – we will see you 'club side ' of the bar in future.  We know you have many other things you can now concentrate on- not least your Ukulele playing in the Horsmonden Band!

Anyone willing to take Charlie's place.  We are always looking for people to spread the load of bar work.  It is fun , interesting and will do wonders for your CV!  Speak to Lindsey or Paul
