HoVEC's next event will begin and end at out Club. It is a Roving Supper scheduled for Saturday 15th September.  Details are on our Club notice board and on posters around the village or you can contact Katy on This email address is being protected from spambots. Also regarding HoVEC. They are to hold their HoVEC AGM at our Club on Wednesday 5th September at 8 pm.   Absolutely ALL in our community are invited to attend and will be welcome.  A chance to hear what they have achieved in the last year and what is planned for this.  New ideas will be welcome and a new committee elected.

The next MEN's BREAKFAST will be held at our Club on Saturday 8thSeptember.  This time organised by Nick Coslett. Same format as usual- excellent grub and wonderful company. Nick promises something special this time ! (?)  If you have not received an invitation and want to go call This email address is being protected from spambots. REMEMBRANCE.  This year is even more special than usual as 11th November also marks the centenary of the end of the First World War.  It is Armistice Day as well as Remembrance Sunday.
So we will be holding our annual Wreath Laying Service that lunchtime but also having a special event, to mark the Centenary and Peace around early evening that day.  This will culminate with the lighting of a BEACON on our Village Green .  Details of the event have still to be finalised but it will be centred around our Club.  We have some ideas and things in place but if you can inspire us with your thoughts on what should be done PLERASE let Kell know  (This email address is being protected from spambots. Sue Hussey and others are setting about the task of creating a WW1 Memorial BiG Book. It is a mammoth task collating all the records of those from our village who gave their lives and also everything surrounding life in Horsmonden during and after that period.  If you have any kind of material/memories that could be recorded let Sue and her team know. Best way is to bring them to Nostalgia Day.

And so to Nostalgia Day!  This will be a BIG one and is on a Saturday! The 6thof October from 10.30 am until 5pm.  Both in our Club and outside on the Green where displays surrounding Hop Picking will be the attraction.  In the Club will be an update on how the Hop Pickers Line Heritage Group are progressing with their plan for a trail following the old Railway from Paddock Wood to Hawkhurst.  Simply loads to be seen and experienced that day. Great that your Club is hosting it.

Well done to the Kindergarten who held a very successful Coffee morning at our  Club this week. Really good atmosphere and hardly a child without a painted face!
